| Bruce Wayne the Batman Begins , who saves Gotham from the jaws of destruction |
The other day , I was watching Batman Begins , one of Nolan's finest works . And after watching it i was awestruck! How can one man save an entire city from the jaws of destruction , even when he was up against his own demons .
Why can't we have such a superhero that could bail us out of this sinking ship of ours?
Gone are the days when Shaktimaan saved the day with his powerful punches and kicks . His bright red suit coupled with matching red colored gloves , who would give villains sleepless nights
I have always imagined our Indian superhero to be a guy who wears a cape , a simple shirt and a pair of trousers !(After seeing Shaktimaan's fashion sence , have been scared of Shaktimaan,Sorry Shaktimaan) :P , NOT EXCITING AT ALL .....
This is because an Indian Superhero doesnt believe in showing himself.We are just to scared to show it off , just as Bruce Wayne in the Batman Series .
Why can't our superhero save us from the jaws of destruction?
Maybe he is busy dealing with the floods of Delhi .....
Maybe he is busy solving the Commonwealth Games fiasco....
Maybe he is busy solving the issue of the Naxals....
Maybe he is too busy in solving the issue of Kashmir .....
OR
Maybe he is just too tired .....
Bruce Wayne just had to save one city ! i wonder what he would have done to save our country .We would need more than one batman , maybe even the Justice League! . There is just so much going around in the country that even one superhero would not be enough ...
If we did have a superhero .. we would say a lot of things even if the above issues prevailed.
After all we are paying the superhero to protect the lives of the people in the country.We can simply declare him as an outcast ....Surely! and a new superhero would emerge (In this case a new PM/President/Leader of the majority.........) , will take an oath to to save the country, and we would definitely trust him blindly.....
Our superheroes are different from the ones that appear in the comic books (As Sheldon says ....) .They need huge houses,expensive cars , cartload of money , just to save our country .
Everyone wants to become IRONMAN !
You might well argue that Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark too have huge cartloads of money , but its their own money .....Which is not true in the case of our superheroes ... Its OUR money ....!
We vote for the superhero because we have hope , that our superhero would never let anything happen to us , would always save the country from any calamity , and kill of the Villain with one of the special moves , but that never happens . We are always left disappointed because the Villain always wins ( here 'Villains' means Price rise,Terrorism,Corruption....) and we are always left with the prospect of a sequel .
The country needs superheroes only because they need someone to look upto,idolize,preach his philosophy and feel secured when he goes to bed .
He must not necessarily be a caped crusador or a building jumping freak . People need someone that could set things right when things are not going their way ( Remember Istanbul 05 , Gerrard's no less than a superhero :) !).
We can always fight , but the fight is endless , because the superhero would almost succumb to the number of problems in the country , one day or the other he would quit ....
New superheroes emerge every day , but its almost certain that each and everyone of them would fail due to the opposition he would receive and the number of problems in the country.
Lastly i d just like to say
Superheroes are never bred, the emergy from conditions from which they are hurt by !
Why dont we feel anything ?
Where is our superhero ?
